Spano Conducts Mahler's Ninth

A superstitious composer, Mahler greatly feared the musical "curse of the ninth," which claimed the lives of other great symphonists like Beethoven, Schubert and Bruckner. His own ninth, a work of epic melodies and proportions, was indeed his final symphonic offering, a four-movement work that many hear as Mahler's farewell to life, a glorious work that sets the soul aflame. Be there when Music Director Robert Spano and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra explore this tour-de-force, which begins with an irregular rhythm that Bernstein suggested was Mahler's failing symphonic heartbeat.

Wagner's The Flying Dutchman

Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman is a eerie tale of redemption through love, set in the fearsome world of a ghost sea captain. To close out the symphonic season, the FWSO has assembled an all-star vocal cast and chorus to bring this spectral story to life in sharp relief, with all the tempestuousness and drama of Wagner's music distilled in a special semi-staged production.

Picasso Symphony

The highly anticipated "Picasso Symphony," an unprecedented and innovative film orchestra experience, will make its U.S. debut on May 10, 2025 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium. An exploration and homage to the prolific genius of Pablo Picasso, "Picasso Symphony" blends stunning visuals with a curated arrangement of live orchestral music telling the story of Picasso's life journey. The show will be part of the "Picasso Experience", which is comprised of two core properties that will take people into the world of Picasso as they have never seen before. One part is the symphony, while the other part is a multimedia presentation in perfect sync using the latest in visual and auditory performance to immerse audiences in the artist's work in unprecedented ways. The multimedia presentation features all of Picasso's works including films, paintings, photography, prints, illustrations, ceramics, sculptures, stage designs and more.
